Bread Pizza ~ Simple and Kid Friendly!

It is quite natural for a blogger to get inclined to food photos that are photogenic.  Just like a painter picks up and blends colours from his palette and smudges on to the canvas, we bloggers love to blend colours, naturally with our ingredients and capture in our lenses.

Colours fascinate us. Recipes become artful.

I came across this cute recipe Geetha's blog recently and instantly fell in love with it. I tried the same night and was a winner!

I know bread pizza is a common kid friendly recipe which many of you had tried and have your own versions.I thought of sharing it coz I was making it for the first time and really loved it!

Bread Pizza
Yields- 4
Preparation time- 15 mins
Baking time - 10-15 mins

You Need:

4 Bread Slices
1/2  Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
2 Tablespoons Sour Cream (I used hung curd)
1/4 tsp Pepper powder
1/4 tsp Oregano
1/4 tsp Paprika / Red chilly powder

To Mince fine:

  1 Small sized big onion
1 Bell pepper (I used half green and half yellow)
  1 Tomato
( I used a few bits of baby carrots and that's optional )

Method:

Grate cheese and add the minced onions, bell pepper and tomato. Slice the tomato and remove the seeds and pulp before you mince the flesh.

Tip in the powders and mix the cheese and vegetables well before adding sour cream. Sour cream makes the topping spreadable. Check salt. Cheese is mostly salted, so be careful if you add more salt.

Toast the bread on a tawa until lighly browned and crisp. You can alternatively use your electric toaster too.

The slices are toasted before spreading the topping so that they don't absorb the moisture and get soggy. Sprinkle grated cheese if you like. I din't top extra cheese.
Preheat oven to 350 F.

Bake for 10 minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles. Switch over from bake mode to broil mode for another 2-3 minutes.

Enjoy the freshly baked bread pizza!

Note :

The slices won't get toasted further inside with the topping while baking. The crispness is well retained. So see to it you toast the slices well enough until crisp. The crisp base with the melted cheese topping make tastier pizzas!

You may reserve half of the grated cheese as in the original recipe.
Use half amount of cheese for mixing with cream and veggies and sprinkle the rest half before you bake. I din't do it as I wanted to bring out the beauty of the colourful minced vegetables of the yummy bread pizza :)

Thank you Manjula, for the wonderful guest post recipe in Geetha's En Samayal Araiyil. It's absolutely fool proof, delicious and simple. My son loves it and this has already fallen under his weekend menu!

Hope you know about my very first event, 'My Spicy Recipe'.  Will be lovely to see your entries :)

  6. Yep, you are right about having our own versions. I prefer not to show the loads of veggies on it and so make it into a grilled-cheese veggie sandwich :) Unaware, that she is actually eating the veggies, my 3 yr old regularly wolfs it down during dinner time at least 2-3 times a week. It does help to have the sandwiches cut into teddy bears/stars using cookie cutters. It was a huge hit as party food for her 3rd birthday as well. A definite kiddie pleaser.
